Agronomist & Planning Guide

This guide covers crop cycle creation, seed quantity calculations, growth-stage management, and nutritional scheduling.

1. Creating a Crop Plan Cycle

  1. Navigate to Crop Plans > Create Plan.
  2. Select target crop, variety, and season (Kharif, Rabi, Zaid).
  3. Specify target planting window (Earliest Sowing Date to Latest Sowing Date).
  4. Define target maturity days (e.g., 110–125 days).

2. Seed Quantity Calculation Formula

AgroOps provides automated seed rate calculation based on target plant population and seed characteristics:

Seed Quantity (kg/acre) = (Target Plant Population × 1000-Seed Weight in grams) / (Germination % × Purity % × 10,000)

Or for direct acreage estimation:

Total Seed (kg) = Target Acreage × Varietal Seed Rate (kg/acre) × (1 + Buffer Allowance %)

Standard Calculation Parameters

  • Target Area: Acres or Hectares allocated to the crop.
  • Seed Rate (kg/acre): Standard varietal recommendation (e.g., 40 kg/acre for wheat, 20 kg/acre for soybean).
  • Buffer Allowance (%): Additional 5–10% recommended for replanting or field edge mortality.

Step-by-Step Calculation Flow

  1. Select the crop variety from the seed catalog.
  2. Enter the planned acreage.
  3. AgroOps auto-calculates:
    • Base seed quantity required.
    • Recommended bag counts (e.g., in 25 kg or 50 kg bags).
    • Total projected input cost.

3. Growth Stages & Advisory Schedules

AgroOps breaks every crop cycle into manageable stages:

  1. Sowing & Germination (Days 0–15): Soil moisture monitoring and basal fertilizer application.
  2. Vegetative Growth (Days 16–45): Weed management and nitrogen top-dressing.
  3. Flowering & Pod/Ear Initiation (Days 46–75): Micronutrient foliar sprays and pest threshold checks.
  4. Maturity & Harvest (Days 76+): Moisture monitoring, harvest planning, and yield estimation.

Advisories entered by the agronomist are pushed as automated SMS/WhatsApp alerts to farmers on their schedule.
